September Water Safety & Lifesaving Intensive Workshop
Power Fins Swimming Academy is proud to announce our upcoming September Water Safety & Lifesaving Workshop—an essential hands-on aquatic survival and emergency response training event for students, parents, and swimming enthusiasts.
Guided by President Mr. Athukorala and senior instructors, this special weekend workshop is designed to equip swimmers of all ages with practical water survival instincts, deep water confidence, self-rescue maneuvers, and basic CPR procedures.
Workshop Curriculum & Highlights

Aquatic Survival Floating & Treading Water: Mastering effortless water treading and energy conservation techniques in deep water.

Cramp Management & Self-Rescue: Learning emergency response techniques to handle muscle cramps, accidental falls, and panic situations.

Lifesaving & CPR Demonstrations: Live rescue drills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstrations led by certified coaches.

Official Certification: Every participant will be awarded an official Power Fins Water Safety Certificate of Completion.

Sibling Duo Makes Waves in the Pool: Tehan & Dinoli Deliver Stellar Swimming Performances
Our talented swimming sensations, Tehan and his sister Dinoli, have made the school and academy proud with an outstanding display of skill, speed, and sportsmanship at the recent swimming championship.
Competing among top contenders from around the island, Tehan dominated the pool by securing an incredible 5 Gold Medals, setting 2 New Meet Records, and clinching the Champion trophy in his age category.
Following in his footsteps, Dinoli delivered a phenomenal performance to win 4 Medals and earn well-deserved recognition for sports excellence.

A Legacy of Lifesaving & Aquatic Excellence: The Story of Mr. D.R. Athukorala
Long before Power Fins Swimming Academy became a premier destination for competitive swimming and water safety in Sri Lanka, the foundation of aquatic excellence and lifesaving heroism was established over four decades ago by Mr. D.R. Athukorala—pioneer of Kinross Swimming & Lifesaving Club, Kotikawatte, and father of Power Fins Head Coach Mr. Athukorala.
At the World Lifesaving Championship in Sydney, Australia (March 22 – April 02), Mr. D.R. Athukorala represented Sri Lanka on the global stage, winning a prestigious Bronze Medal in the 50m Manikin (Maniking) Lifesaving Competition. With over 40 years of competitive swimming experience, including the 1966–1967 Indo-Lanka Games, 2-Mile and 6-Mile open sea swims, and numerous life-saving rescues, his passion continues to shape the spirit of Power Fins Swimming Academy.
